Circus Kirkus comes to the Coast
If you haven’t already noticed the big tent along Highway 90 at Centennial Plaza during your commute.
Here’s your confirmation: the circus is in town.
Beginning Friday evening, guests will be welcomed to the Big Top where audiences will be able to marvel at performances from aerialists, magicians, and even a foot juggler.
The comedy-driven show features plenty of singing and dancing, creating a world of magic and wonder for all ages.
Circus Kirkus Ringmaster Vanessa Sotomayor said, “It’s an absolute transformation into a world that has been somewhat lost in the world of technology and television and screens.
You are immersed into another time and space.”
For many Circus Kirkus performers who were out of jobs due to the pandemic, this is the first time in over a year they’ve been able to travel the country and perform for live audiences.
Aerialist Julie Marshall said, “Our industry really got shaken apart which means that when we got the call that like oh you want to come do a tent show?
Which I personally had never done before, I had nothing else going on.”
On the flip side, because of the pandemic, attendees get to see artists they wouldn’t typically have the chance to see.
“When you come to Kirkus, you’re seeing some top-notch performers that aren’t even in the U.S.A.
Like our foot juggler trained in China. I’m usually performing in Vegas.”
Each show features a community member as the honorary ringmaster.
News 25’s Meggan Gray will be joining the circus for the 1 p.m. show on Saturday, November 27th.
“It’s just one more way to connect those dots to bring your family closer to ours.”
The circus runs from November 19th through the 21st and the 26th through 28th.
